One of Maya’s founders, Sibesh Kar, says that the service builds apps by using a combination of conditional logic, AI-powered search and classification, fine-tuned language models, and template generation. Similar to GitHub’s Copilot, Maya incrementally generates programs and shows results in response to steps in English. Maya Labs is creating a platform for translating natural language into code. Assuming Dev Tools AI works as intended, it could be a valuable addition to quality assurance testing teams’ arsenals. As founder Chris Navrides points out, writing end-to-end web tests is a traditionally time-consuming process, requiring one to dig around in the page code multiple times as the tested app evolves. It can also test for crawl errors on pages, including broken links, 404s and console errors. Applying computer vision, it finds elements on webpages like search boxes and buttons, and can even see controls within web games. Dev Tools AI offers a library designed to make it easier to write tests for web apps in existing dev environments by simply drawing a box over a screenshot. Image Credits: Monterey AIĭev Tools AI could perhaps be used in tandem with Monterey AI. Jiang says the platform can uncover cross-team conflicts and dependencies while providing a birds-eye view of the portfolio to align features. Using Monterey, customers pick a product template based on their use case (e.g., “software-as-a-service”) and configure the inputs, checking dependencies to solve conflicts. Founder Chun Jiang pitches it as a “co-pilot for product development” that replaces documents with workflows that automatically generate product specs, including feature ideas, metrics, designs, and launch plans. Monterey AI tackles a decidedly different part of the product lifecycle: Development. Considering that 55% of developers struggle to find the time to build internal apps in the first place, according to one recent survey, VCs certainly see an opportunity: they invested $37 billion last year into startups creating dev tools. YC Summer 2022 AI startups that didn’t fall within the sales and marketing tech category tended to focus on dev tools, another lucrative avenue to growth. But founder David Eberle says that Typewise is compatible with any CRM system and can be customized to a company’s data, with an analytics component that suggests which words and phrases to use. It sounds a little like TextExpander and Magical. Initially developed as a smartphone app, Typewise - which claims to have Fortune 500 customers in the e-commerce and logistics industries - can autocomplete sentences, insert smart snippets, automatically reply to messages, and check for style and grammar consistency. Typewise is also in the sales space, but it focuses on text prediction across web apps via a browser extension and server-side API. But Pilot AI founder Max Lu, previously a software engineer at Salesforce, says his product is more thorough than most, and can generate a summary of each call as well as data points that map to CRM fields and questions asked by reps, in addition to key parts of the recipient’s answer. It’s worth noting that other platforms like Fireflies.ai and Microsoft’s Viva Sales also do this. The idea is to save reps time, and to assure their managers that the pipeline data is up to date. Pilot AI is developing a tool for sales reps that automatically translates call recordings into structured data that then directly updates a customer relationship management (CRM) system. Grand View Research pegged the sales force automation software market alone at $7.29 billion in 2019. Economic challenges aside, the large addressable market makes sales an attractive problem for startups to tackle. Their products largely target hurdles in sales and marketing at a time when businesses are up against recessionary pressures. But the batches share a unifying theme: sales. This year had only 14 such startups compared to 20 last year, which makes sense as the overall cohort is also smaller. But a particular category of startup stood out: those applying AI and machine learning to solve problems, especially for business-to-business clients. The competition was fiercer than usual, owing to YC’s decision in early August to cut the batch size by 40% to around 250 companies in light of economic headwinds. Featuring founders from 30 countries and startups across sectors including developer tools, fintech and healthcare, the day saw no shortage of compelling pitches. This morning, Y Combinator (YC) hosted a demo day for its 2022 Summer Cohort - the 35th demo day in the incubator’s history. 7 AI startups that stood out in YC’s Summer ’22 batch

It wouldn’t make much sense to rate engine oil flow at room temperature - after all, it gets really, really hot inside your engine, and that’s where it’s crucial that oil flows as efficiently as possible for a given engine’s design requirements. Sometimes, viscosity is also referred to as an oil’s “weight,” with a heavier oil featuring a higher viscosity grade. It’s logical to assume that a low viscosity oil is thinner than a high viscosity oil. High viscosity oils flow more slowly and come with a higher SAE number. The quicker an oil flows, the lower its viscosity and the grade assigned to it by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). In the simplest terms, viscosity refers to how well a lubricant flows at a given temperature. In fact, you should ALWAYS follow the vehicle owner’s manual to determine the correct viscosity grade, engine oil specification, and oil drain interval. To make it simple, just pick up the oil type that’s recommended in your owner’s manual. Reagecon’s range of viscosity standards are compliant with ASTM D2162 and offer extremely high accuracies of between 0.08 and 0.3%.Oil viscosity can feel a bit like math class when you’re standing inside your local auto parts store staring down row after row of oil bottles plastered with algebraic numbers and letters. These are liquids with a set and known viscosity, to evaluate if the equipment and operator are accurate. To ensure that equipment and operators are working accurately, viscosity standards should be measured regularly. How can you test a Kinematic Viscosity system? The sample flowing through the capillary viscometer can be detected either manually or using an automatic system, sometimes known as optical detection system. The most common types of viscometers are Cannon Fenske Opaque, Cannon Fenske Routine and Ubbelohde Viscometers. The temperature and viscometer type can be changed to suit the sample being analysed, or to meet standard test protocols such as ASTM or IP specifications. The time recorded is that taken for the liquid to flow through the capillary section of the viscometer, from one marker line to the other Where V = Kinematic Viscosity, C = Calibration constant of the viscometer, t = time. The unique constant of the capillary viscometer is also taken into account, with the final result calculated by the equation These all help to ensure more accurate results.Īfter equilibrating to the test temperature, the liquid is flowed through a capillary viscometer and the time is recorded. Some also have features to automatically calculate the viscosity, or even detect the results by optical sensors. Viscosity Baths are available in a range of specifications – models that heat, high temperature models for extended heating, or refrigerated models to run tests below room temperature. A viscosity bath is used to immerse capillary viscometers in liquid and hold them at a steady temperature – removing temperature as a variable in the test This means that accurately controlling the temperature of the liquid during testing is vital to ensure consistent results which can be compared across different batches or products.Ī viscosity bath is used to maintain samples at a steady and accurate temperature for Kinematic Viscosity testing to ensure that temperature is constant, and not a variable. You can see this effect in action by warming honey – at room temperature this is thick and slow to pour (high viscosity) but if you heat it in a pan you can see it becomes thin and fast to pour (low viscosity). The impact of temperature on viscosity is huge – for every ☌ change, the viscosity can change by 2 to 10% (depending on the liquid). very thick liquid, slow to move when it is poured) very thin liquid, flows and pours fast) to high viscosity (i.e. The most commonly used unit is centiStokes (cSt) but some methods may report in mm 2/sīelow you can see the viscosity of some common liquids – ranging from low viscosities (i.e. What units is Kinematic Viscosity reported in? The time taken for the liquid to flow is measured – this could be the time it takes to travel through a capillary, or through a cup with a hole in the base. This is different to Dynamic viscosity, which measures the resistance of another object moving through the liquid. Kinematic Viscosity specifically is a measure of resistance to the liquid moving. Put simply, this means how thick or thin the liquid is – how easily it flows. The definition of viscosity is a measure of a liquid’s resistance to movement. We’ve explored some of the most commonly asked questions about viscosity testing what is kinematic viscosity? How is it measured? How does temperature affect viscosity? And how can you make sure your viscosity measurements are accurate? A glass capillary viscometer, used in Kinematic Viscosity measurements Kinematic Viscosity measurements are used in quality control and characterization tests in a wide range of fields. If the issue is with auto-brightness, this step could easily solve it.įollow the below steps to turn off the auto-brightness on your iPhone. If you can turn off the auto-brightness on your iPhone, the device will use the same brightness level in every condition. If you are experiencing your iPhone brightness keeps changing, we have also provided some solutions below that you can try to solve the issue. 6 Fixes on iPhone Brightness Keeps Changing In this article, we will go through all the reasons that may be causing this issue on your iPhone. If it is true that your iPhone brightness keeps changing, then this may be a result of incorrect settings due to a feature, or there is damage on your screen. Is your iPhone also behaving in such a way? In any case, if the iPhone brightness keeps changing, it irritates us. Not everyone likes the same screen brightness, and some prefer a dim screen, while others want a bright one. Screen brightness is one of those things in our phones that is personalized. Turn off the Night shift on your iPhone 3. Turn off auto-brightness on your iPhone 2. The previous command will launch either a SYN stealth scan or a TCP connect scan depending on the privileges of the user running Nmap. Follow along to learn how to perform the quintessential Nmap task, and review Calderon's tips on port scanning techniques, options that affect the scan behavior of Nmap and more. In this excerpt from Chapter 1, "Nmap Fundamentals," Calderon shares a recipe on how to use Nmap to find open ports. Paulino Calderon, co-founder of Websec and part-time Nmap developer, wrote Nmap Network Exploration and Security Auditing Cookbook, Third Edition, published by Packt, to offer firsthand insights into using the multifaceted tool. The open source tool helps security pros, networking teams, sys admins and other IT personnel scan hosts, networks, applications, mainframes, Unix and Windows environments, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, and industrial control systems. To dodge them, you have to hold X, wait for the right moment, let go, and push your analog stick away from them. For example, while exploring your surroundings, you can run into predators that will charge at you. Exploring the environment and navigating the jungle space works all right if you can figure it out, but different scenarios that feel flimsy are thrown into the equation. While most games' achievements tend to drop off over time, this sudden drop is a strong indicator of the controls and gameplay issues.Įven if you were to appropriately decrypt the controls, the gameplay is too varied and stretched out, so it's not fully fleshed out. This can even be seen through the achievements on PlayStation Network the first achievement has over a 90% clearance rate, but the next one in order drops to under 50%. The game only explains these vague concepts a few times, either baffling the player into disinterest or making them navigate the help screens with each new interaction. The controls are so muddy and ill-explained that it feels like a puzzle to control your character and explore the environment - the crux of the game's intention. To explore different plants in the wild, you must go to your senses, smell them, mark the smell, walk over to it, press X to grab some of it, stand completely still, and hold the Square button again to examine/eat it. You then direct the camera toward what you're interested in, hold Triangle again, and rapidly press it to create a marker on your screen. While they employ creative measures to fulfill humanity's base survival and social instincts, it still feels off to have "emotions," "intelligence" and "senses." For example, to use the intelligence control, you have to stand still and press the Triangle button, which allows you to focus on your surroundings. Perhaps this is a translation issue, but the controls are inadequately explained and have incredibly vague descriptions. The screen is dark and hazy, and it's covered in ghostlike, roaring faces of predators as the game shows you the controls and focuses on discovery and survival. As you start the game, you watch the circle of life play out - admittedly less inspiring than The Lion King, but I digress - resulting in many animal deaths, including the ape you rode in on. On paper, it's an interesting concept to have confusing gameplay illustrate the chaos of the world of an evolving ape millions of years ago, but the implementation is less stunning. The messiness and confusion of our species is explored in an interesting way, although it lacks some follow-through. Titles like Pokémon, Spore, and others depict the concept in a fun, cartoony way that appeals to younger children in tone and gameplay, while Ancestors aims to tell a truer narrative, highlighting the grossness and realism of our ascent from animals to humanity, and how blurred those lines can be. Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey plays on evolution in a deeper, more profound way than most other games that touch on the subject. Completion of these quests grant credits, Grombitz, and Tech Points for the Skill Tree. Related to Crow's Nest Cartography, Irrelevant Sidequest, Loads and Loads of Sidequests, That One Sidequest, and Sidequest Sidestory. an extra frustrating variation of FedEx Quests As discussed by Extra Credits, the prevalence of the Big Five is often a result of the common view among game designers that the only purpose of sidequests is to justify in-story the endless combat grind gameplay. note "guide this vulnerable NPC to another place"-i.e. In a lot of post- World of Warcraft MMOs (and games inspired by it), most sidequests fall into the Big Five templates: Kill Quests, note "kill a certain number of certain mobs" Fetch Quests, note "bring me a specific thing" FedEx Quests, note " deliver this thing to another place" Collect Quests, note "find a certain number of certain things", often rolled into Kill Quests and Escort Quests. If sidequests take up the majority of the game, it may be a Wide-Open Sandbox. It is important to note that this appears in practically every game which gives the player even a slight amount of free rein, and is one of the best way for a developer to add more content and extend the length of a game. This allows more casual players to still complete the game and see the plot resolved, while also giving gamers seeking an additional challenge something to go after. Some sidequests such as the Bonus Dungeon and Superboss may provide challenges more difficult than any content available through the main storyline. Going out of your way and completing all sidequests results in 100% Completion. Sidequests come in a variety of forms, and completing them generally brings reward to the player such as additional equipment or abilities, areas to explore, supplemental plot related details, or fun unlockables. A sidequest (or optional quest, side mission, etc.) is any part of a video game that is not required to complete it. |
